Yes, Yes, Yes!
Team TH&TH have been hearing the most magical and wonderful proposal stories this week. We LOVE celebrating these moments and we know that you will share the joy when you see the beaming smiles and burstingly happy snaps. We also share our engagement tales with you as these were the moments that the TH&TH story really began.
Ana & Mike's tropical New Year proposal.
As midnight approached on NYE 2016, we found ourselves walking along our favourite beach in Thailand, tipsy on Mojitos and ready to celebrate 5 years together.
As mike bent down to light our own New Years lantern and I watched it float up into the sea of lanterns, I heard a voice say my full name, which meant something serious was about to happen, and as I looked down, there he was, glittering ring in hand.
Luckily the fireworks going off across the beach masked my initial response of 'shut up', 'that's not f-ing real' and 'oh my god's', until I finally settled on a big fat YES! And the best thing about it all, for some reason he had set a voice recording of it all, which I can now listen to over and over.
Ellie & Richard's romantic French getaway
Richard decided the only way to surprise me with a ring was to whisk me away under the rouse that we just celebrating his 30th Birthday. He kept me in the dark as to his plans as he loves surprising me aka watching me squirm with curiosity!
Before I knew it we were drinking cold beers in our own log cabin in France! Half way through our Michelin starred dinner (!) I was beginning to think this guy really loves a Birthday... The hotel was like no other and the food was incredible, 30 was clearly a big deal.
After finishing our 7 course dinner we made our way back to our cabin. As I opened the door I saw the bath had been run and there were candles everywhere, all for his 30th...or so I thought until I saw the champagne glasses and a small blue box. Richard took the box and was down on one knee saying the greatest gift he could wish for on his Birthday was for me to be his wife. Through floods of happy tears I said yes.
In the morning we had a breakfast basket of fresh brioche, hot coffee and treats from the kitchen delivered to our room.
The coffee was a welcome site!
Hannah & Andrew's Manor House Magic
Andrew and I had been going out for a year and it was our anniversary. I had a 'cold' so decided to take the day off work (much to Andrews peculiar annoyance). He left for work and an hour later I heard him coming back in through the door. He appeared with a bunch of flowers and told me to get out of bed and get dressed! He had already packed my bag and arranged with my boss for me to have the day off. Moments later we were in the car on our way to a lovely weekend away. What a lovely treat!
After a few hours in the car (and a miraculous recovery by me!!) we pulled up to an amazing iron gate stating we had arrived at the Manor House Hotel. It was all super impressive and picturesque. As we drove the long windy drive up to the hotel there was a wedding being set up on the lawn and I turned to Andrew and jokingly said 'we aren't getting married are we!' he gave a nervous laugh in response and then we were there. We were shown to our private cottage in the grounds and wasted no time enjoying a glass of the champagne left out for us before we went off to explore the grounds and local village. We went for a light lunch in the local pub and I attempted to play pool, all the while feeling very spoilt and dreamy!
We went back to our cottage to get ready for dinner in the incredible restaurant at the hotel. Andrew pulled a bag out of nowhere and told me to open it. He'd bought me a gorgeous cocktail dress to wear to dinner! Slight butterflies at this point! We went and had a gorgeous dinner and decided we'd go for a little evening stroll to walk off some of the meal. As we walked passed our cottage Andrew said he was going to go grab his camera so I waited patiently outside. I waited a little longer. A little longer. What was he doing!! I stomped upstairs and banged on the door... two seconds later he opened the cottage door, dressed in a tux with the glow of a whole room covered in candles and he immediately stepped back onto one knee and held out a gorgeous ring and that's about all I remember!
Ping & Andrew's Diamond Day
Ping awoke on Valentines Day, the day was like any other, go to work as usual, no cards, no gifts, no flowers, no mention or acknowledgement that it was Valentines day. Andrew is normally romantic so this was unusual for him. He picked me up from work that evening and we drove to our "go to" restaurant when we can't be bothered to cook. On the passenger seat was a single red rose and before I could get excited he immediately put a stop to it saying "I stole it from one of the kids from school, here you go you can have it." What effort!
So we ate at the restaurant as normal, with no mention of the day apart from the red table cloths and flowers which adorned the room. It was a misty drizzly evening and after stuffing our faces Andrew decided he fancied a walk to "walk off the food."
So we walked down to the pier which was very secluded with one or two young couples sat on the benches all loved up with their huge bouquets and teddy bears. The lamps were dimly lit, the kayaks were bobbing on the sea front quietly and the walkway was empty. Just us, chatting about our day. I joked as we walked saying "I wonder if any of these couples are going to get engaged tonight, they look so loved up."
As we walked, a dog appeared and strange enough it looked just like ours. I joked and said how he resembled our dog, Chance, to which he replied "that is our dog."
Confused, I thought, "no, couldn't be..." and thought nothing more of it, until the dog came closer and started playing with Andrew and I realised it was Chance. On his collar, Andrew pulled out a little Chinese silk bag and pulled out a shiny object, at that point I couldn't see clearly what it was - until he got down on one knee holding the bright solitaire princess cut diamond and asked me to marry him. In fits of giggles I was still trying to absorb what was happening and it wasn't until he said "I've already asked your parents" that I realised....this is it!
Kitty & Sam's Sunset Suprise
After work we went to Hampstead Heath to walk Beans and whilst admiring the sunset over London I turned around to see sam on one knee with a ring. Completely out of the blue. Beans was too busy eating grass to notice, after 16 years dating it was a complete shock! Ha ha!
